![]() Steam BPM also doesn't support group chat which is a huge inconvenience to me. This makes the computer feel very much like a console but it is a major security risk. I currently have my computer boot straight into Steam BPM running in Administrator Mode and have UAC prompts disabled to avoid the headaches of an input device with the lack of elevated permissions. A solution would be for the Steam Controller to have a toggle to Lizard Mode but I don't know if it is possible with an update or not. If I have to restart Steam or open a window which requires elevated permissions it is a problem because the Steam Controller runs from Steam itself and unless Steam is being run under Administrator Mode, the controller cannot interact with those windows. BPM also occasionally forgets that the Steam Controller is running as a controller and switches to use a cursor within the interface. My other large problem is for when dealing with certain crashes or when BPM gets confused and steals focus. For me the solution was a registry change for Timeout Detection & Recovery (TDR) but I still don't know why BPM causes timeouts with GPUs. ![]() After running the gamut from removing factory overclocks, being mindful of temperatures and ventilation, reinstalling the OS to upgrading my motherboard, ram, processor and video card and countless other proposed solutions and still not having the error cease I wanted to pull my hair out. My largest issue has been the error "Dxgi_error_device_hung" which crashes BPM and no other programs on my PC. If it weren't for the instability of BPM in my experience and the pile of missing minor features it is so very close to being a perfect console replacement for me. I have been fighting with BPM and my Steam Controller for a long time now to try to get a controller only PC set up in my living room. ![]() I love what BPM is trying to accomplish but I sure do hate the amount of time it has taken me to set it up. I'd still prefer to have some of the things I listed above first though. PS4 support was a surprise and the Steam controller is interesting. The coolest thing they're doing is adding better controller support. I had to disable the native music player because it kept crashing Steam I'm 40 and even I don't have mp3s on my computer anymore. It's 2016 and the only way to play music in BPM is to have actual mp3s on your computer. I don't want every app under the sun even just Youtube and Twitch would be fine. WTF is the browser still a mess after all these years. BPM has remained largely stagnant and kind of broken.įor the past few months, I have not been able to load the store in BPM While the consoles have gained native game recording, apps, music streaming etc. BPM, even in the stable build, years later feels like a beta. Today I kind of regret making the switch. Finally I could have a console experience with the power and flexibility of a pc. In this image I picked "GloSC Controller").I switched back to pc a few years ago because of BPM. Setup a empty GloSC link in Steam Library (name it whatever you want. GloSC - Global SteamController is needed ( ). So here's the work you'd need to do to get Steam Input working for your non Steam games via GOG Galaxy 2.0. ![]() When launching make sure the non launcher version is selected from the stacked diamond version selector. GOG Galaxy 2.0 automates all of this, though if you have drm free games from a launcher that sometimes need to be running for other games you can add a second link manually to avoid unnecessarily launching a launcher (adds wait time). So changing "witcher3" to "Witcher3" will require you to redo the art, and the controller configurations from Steam Input (the controller configs part is easy to fix by also changing the old name of "witcher3" to the updated name in. With Steam if you change a letter of the non Steam game's title, or update the directory, anything saved to it will vanish until you put it back exactly as it was before you tweaked it. That's where the other problem with Steam Libraries, and a lot of other Steam stuff came in and aggravated me. I later realized I was using the Steam Grid website wrong, there's an app to do that stuff for you. I tried Steam Libraries just last night, attaching art to each individual non Steam game, it was long and tedious, even some native Steam games needed new art that fits (you know the landscape art games with the blur to fill the rest of the portrait box). It's still in beta though and people are having issues with it disconnecting profile links to other launchers. GOG Galaxy 2.0, in my opinion, has the best library management system with it's automated population and art attachment.
